Decanter is a high-end monthly wine magazine from Britain, specializing in wine industry news, reviews, opinion and editorial. It has a self-styled image as ‘The World’s Best Wine Magazine’ and is read in more than 90 countries, a base on which it is expanding through its website, www.decanter.com.
The magazine is owned by IPC media and its current editor is Guy Woodward, appointed in 2007. For many years Decanter’s scoring scale was based on a five-star system developed by Michael Broadbent MW, who has contributed to the magazine since its creation in 1975. In July 2012 this traditional system was replaced with a more modern composite of dual 20-point and 100-point scores.
The Decanter World Wine Awards is an annual, international wine competition which complements the masterclasses and tastings that Decanter organizes.
