Alsace is located on the east of France and is one of the most historical wine-growing regions of the world. The region also has a lot of German influence in it's wine styles.
Principal grape varieties of Alsace are Riesling, Pinot Gris, Muscat, Gewürztraminer, Pinot Blanc and Chasselas among others.
The vineyards are basically categorised as Alsace General, Clos (or walled) Vineyards and Grand Cru Vineyards.
