Les Chaumes is a Premier Cru vineyard site of the Chassagne-Montrachet appellation in Burgundy. Any wine made from this particular vineyard site (and which conforms to the appropriate appellation laws) may be labeled as Chassagne-Montrachet Premier Cru and may also cite the vineyard's own name. It is easily confused with the similarly named Les Chaumees Premier Cru site, which is located slightly higher on the hillside and a short distance to the north.
At some point in the past, Les Chaumes was divided into two sections – only one of which (the southern half) currently holds Premier Cru status. The two sections are now divided by the Champs Jendreau Premier Cru site.
Being a sub-division of the wider Morgeot climat, wines from the Premier Cru side of Les Chaumes may claim the Morgeot name on labels.
Located just south of Chassagne-Montrachet village, this gently sloping, east-facing vineyard may produce red wines from Pinot Noir and white wines from Chardonnay. They are made under the Chassagne-Montrachet Premier Cru appellation.
