The Diablo Grande AVA is located in Stanislaus County about 30 miles east of San Jose.
The region is named after Mount Diablo, which towers over the region as the highest peak in the Pacific Coast Range. The Diablo Grande Resort Community owns the entire 30,000 acres of this AVA. This commune of lavish homes is sited on a golf course overlooking the vineyards, which are planted on the western slope of the San Joaquin Valley between 1,000 and 1,800 feet above sea level. Grapes grown in the Diablo Grande AVA are predominantly Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Sangiovese, Syrah, Barbera, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon.
