The sheltered northwestern part of the Mayacamas Mountains is home to Diamond Mountain District AVA and the sunny, yet challenging, unfertile, steep slopes. This terrior stresses the vines resulting in very small amounts of intensely flavored grapes.
Diamond Mountain district is well known for big, bold, Cabernet Sauvignons that age well. The supporting Bordeaux varieties, Merlot, Malbec, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot feature, as well as Zinfandel and a modest amount of Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc.
