The Howell Mountain AVA is located in the furthest north-eastern corner of the Napa Valley AVA in California. This sunny mountain region with its south-west-facing slopes is ideal for producing big and bold red wines. The high elevation of 1400 to 2200ft (426–670m) above sea level and cooling winds from the Pacific Ocean help to keep temperatures in check.
Cabernet Sauvignon and Zinfandel produce some of the most celebrated wines from the Howell Mountain AVA. These wines are for lovers of big, powerful flavors and robust tannins.
