Schlossbockelheim WineSchlossböckelheim is a village in the Upper Nahe. It sits on the northern banks of the Nahe river to the west of Niederhausen. The village has two vineyards that have been classified by the VDP as Erste Lage – Kupfergrube and Felsenberg. Both are located just north of Niederhauser Hermannsberg. Kupfergrube is planted on the site of an old copper mine and benefits from the mineral-rich volcanic soil and steep south-facing aspect. Riesling produced from Kupfergrube fruit is typically aromatic in style with a mineral backbone. Locals attribute the uniqueness of the wines to the vineyard's microclimate. Felsenberg lies in an east-west valley comprised of rhyolite volcanic rock. The exceptional steepness and favorable orientation make for very long maturation times, resulting in Rieslings of great depth and character. |
