Wines from Beaune

Beaune wines are mostly red made from Pinot Noir grapes, although recently plantings of Chardonnay have increased. There is more sand in the soil here than in most Cote d'Or villages; the red wines tend to be no more than medium bodied, best drunk between five to 10 years old.
