The British Columbia wine industry is centered on the Okanahan Valley in the south east of the region. Wines are typically fragrant and often made without using any oak. Varieties grown include Ehrenfelser, Riesling, Gewurztraminer, Auxerrois, Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris. French red grape varieties are also grown. To qualify as a British Columbia VQA wine the grapes must have been produced entirely in the region.
