Chile is unique in many ways. But it is the geography of this long and narrow country that sets it apart from other wine producing regions. The Andes on the east has not only prevented phylloxera infestation but also hugely influences the vines.
The country produces a wide range of wines that have earned international reputation. Carmenere based wines are particularly well known.
Aconcagua, Coquimo, Valle Central and Southern region are the four prominent provinces.
