China is currently experiencing a boom in wine sales and production. It does have a number of indigenous vine species, with some plantings of international vines. The largest vineyard area in China is on the same latitude as the south of France - centered around the Turfan Depression oasis in Xinjiang province. Here most of production is devoted to raisins and table wines.
