The vineyards of Franken are to the east of Frankfurt in the River Maine valley. The wines are made from Muller-Thurgau and Silvaner and generally have a firm, steely taste. Franken is famous for its Frankish Trocken bottled in the traditional flat flagon-shaped 'bocksbeutel'.
