Brandy from Grande Champagne

Grande Champagne is one of the regions of Cognac which produces the best spirits. The term 'Champagne' has nothing to do with the Champagne region but they do have the same name for the same reason; namely the nature of the soil which is high in chalk. The chalkier the soil, the more suitable for brandy production.
