Wines from Graves

Graves is a district which produces both red and white wines: the reds generally in the north and the whites in the south, though there are some chateaux which have a reputation for producing both. 'Graves' is the French word for 'gravel' and this is the dominant constituent of the soil. Cabernet Sauvignon dominates the blends of the red wines from this area.
