The Marches are the easternmost region in the central belt of Italy, stretching from Tuscany to the Adriatic coast. The region has substantial plantings of Sangiovese and Trebbiano vines; the greatest potential in the region is, however, represented by two red varieties: Sangiovese and Montepulciano.
