Wines from Margaux

Margaux is the most southerly, isolated and extensive of the Medoc's communal appellations. Within the appellation is limestone, chalk, clay and sand, but most of the finest wines come from outcrops where gravel predominates. Margaux enjoys enormous fame, and more Margaux properties than any other were included in the 1855 Classification of the Medoc and Graves. The Margaux appellation should not be confused with Ch. Margaux, one of the 'first growth' producers.
