Montagny, to the south of the Cote Chalonnaise, is the one all-white appellation within the region and includes neighboring Buxy, whose co-operative is probably the most successful in southern Burgundy. At one time, any Montagny reaching 11.5% natural alcohol was awarded Premier Cru status - this has now been amended to be geographically based.
