The sandy, rich soils of Neusiedlersee produce some very fine, full-bodied Weissburgunder (Pinot Blanc) together with some Traminer and, especially Welschriesling. Some of Austria's most ambitious reds also come from this area and are generally made from the Zweigelt grape (although Cabernet Sauvignon is becoming increasingly popular). |
