Traditionally known as the Palatinate or Rheinpfalz, this region stretches from the French Borders and is the continuation of the Vosges of Alsace. Quantitively this is the most important wine-producing region of Germany. The principal grape varieties are Muller-Thurgau, Riesling and Kerner.
