Rueda lies to the south of Valladolid. It has a reputation for dry, white wines. The grape of the region, the Verdejo, produces elegant wines, whilst two 'new' varieties, the Viura and Sauvignon Blanc, may also be grown. The wines are usually drunk young although there are some cask-aged wine available.
