Grape Variety: Chenin Blanc
Chenin Blanc is a versatile white wine grape variety known for its high acidity and aging potential. Most commonly associated with the Loire Valley, Chenin Blanc has been cultivated in France for nearly 1300 years; official French documents first mention Chenin Blanc as early as 845. It is only since the 1980s, however, that renewed interest has reinvigorated Chenin Blanc's position as a classic and noble grape variety.

Vouvray Petillant - Mousseux wine region
Vouvray Petillant and Vouvray Mousseux are the official (if rarely used) titles for Vouvray's sparkling wines. They are collectively, colloquially known to the locals as fines bulles, which means 'fine bubbles'. This old, traditional phrase is sometimes still seen on labels, but is increasingly being replaced by the more marketable term methode traditionelle.
Like good Champagne, well-made Vouvray Petillant and Vouvray Mousseux wines have a tight, persistent bead of bubbles and a gently nutty, mealy nose – the result of its extended lees contact which often last much longer than the statutory 12 months.
