A Bordeaux Blend, at its most basic, is any combination of those grape varieties typically used to make the red wines of Bordeaux. Cotes de Bourg is an appellation of the Bordeaux wine region, producing primarily red wine, but also a small quantity of white. The appellation covers wines made in the area around the town of Bourg, located 12 miles (20 km) north-west of Bordeaux city. Cotes de Bourg was originally intended to be part of the new Cotes de Bordeaux appellation created in 2009, but this did not go ahead.
