Malbec is a black-skinned grape variety native to southern France (specifically the area around Cahors), but now better known as the icon wine grape of Argentina. Cahors wines have been famous for centuries for their inky 'black' color, and were once used to add depth to the lighter-colored wines from Bordeaux.
