Minho is Portugal's northernmost wine region, located on the Atlantic coast just south of Spanish Galicia. This area of coastline is known as the Costa Verde (Green Coast), due to the lush countryside which lies just inland. It occupies a roughly rectangular area about 30 miles (50km) wide by 60 miles (100km) long, to the north and east of Porto, Portugal's second-largest city.
