Albarino (Alvarinho) is a green-skinned grape variety native to Galicia on the north Atlantic coast of Spain. It is also popular in the Vinho Verde wine region of northern Portugal, where it is known as Alvarinho.
Rias Baixas is a DO wine zone in the Galicia region of north-western Spain, is located along the Atlantic coastline. It produces some of the country's most acclaimed dry white wines, mostly from the Albarino grape variety. The name Rías Baixas means 'low rias' and was chosen because of the coastal inlets ('rias') which characterize the landscape here.
