Carmenere is a dark-skinned red grape variety originally from the vineyards of Bordeaux, and which has found a particularly suitable home in Chile where it is sometimes also known as Grande Vidure. Colchagua Valley is a wine-producing region in central Chile. The desirable terroir of the region and a lot of marketing know-how have combined to make this one of Chile's most important wine regions, along with Maipo Valley in the north.
