Romorantin is a light-skinned variety grown in the east of the vast Loire region of France. It has its own 48-ha appellation, Cour-Cheverny, where it is the only permitted variety. The dry wines are suited for early consumption and have a rather neutral flavor profile, save for a hint of herbs. Subtle citrus and honeyed notes can be achieved in some vintages when botrytis appears. These sweet wines are then labeled as moelleux.
