Stone fruits headline the nose of this salmon-colored rosé made from Xinomavro, an indigenous Greek red wine grape. There are peach, nectarine and apricot aromas and flavors, with an extra jolt of lemon zest for balance. The zesty finale means you might top off your half-empty glass without a second thought, which no one would blame you for. While the finish is dry, all those summer fruits give this wine a perception of sweetness, making it a great rosé to serve with spicy food.

Aus 100 Prozent Xinomavro gekeltert. In der Nase Grapefruit, Zitrus, Hibiskusblüte, geradezu vornehm. Frisch und klar auf der Zunge, wieder Zitrusfrucht, auch etwas Johannisbeere, knackig frische Säure, dazu eine Spur Gerbstoff. Zeigt tatsächlich Komplexität, ist vielschichtig, mit feiner Bitternote im Finale. Durchweg unerhört animierend.

Fresh and elegant, this rosé made from 100% Xinomavro starts with aromas of rose, strawberry and tropical fruit. The palate is dry and crisp but full of strawberry and saline flavors. Its structure and full, fruity body make it a great pairing for spicy cuisine and grilled fare. Susan Kostrzewa

(2019) Kicking off an impressive set of wines for Alpha Estate, this rosé has a pale, Provençal colour and character, spices, small, firm red berries and a touch of watermelon. The wine is a bleed-off from the press, of grapes destined for the 'Hedgehog' cuvée. A nice salt and bright red fruit freshness, this is long and nicely tempered, elegant stuff.
2018 Vintage
Tasted: Jan 2019
(2019) This rosé from northern Greece is absolutely packed with flavour and personality. Made from 100% Xinomavro, it's a rosé for the Sauvignon Blanc lover perhaps. A little whiff of reduction blows off to reveal zesty and elderflower notes, a flinty quality remaining, and lots of small red berries. Dry and punchily flavoured on the palate too, a swish of tangy graperfuit drives along with the softer berry fruit giving this plenty of vivacious bangs per buck. A lot of web sites selling this are using an old picture with a much darker wine: this is the fashionable, pale Provençal shade of pink.

Helles Lachsrosa, Silberreflexe. Zart nach frischer Birne, Nuancen von Honigmelone, feines rotes Beerenkonfit. Saftig, elegante Textur, angenehme Fruchtsüße, gekontert von einer integrierten Säurestruktur, bleibt gut haften, delikater Stil, mineralischer Abgang.

Tasted: Jan 2017
Rose petal, cherry and strawberry aromas start this perky wine from northern Greece. The overall character is brisk and balanced, with a mineral core beneath flavors of cherry, lemon and peach. Pretty and easy to pair with more delicate foods, and fish.

2022: 100% Xinomavro. Dry, delicate. White peaches, cherries, strawberries. Punchy mouthfeel, long aftertaste. Very good indeed. Pair with crab, prawns, grilled pork.
