Critic tasting note: (2022 vintage) "This is exceptionally pure, nervy and fragrant, with bright and incisive aromas that bring to mind red fruits with lavender and Mediterranean herbs, grapefruit zest, white pepper and exotic spices. This makes me think of mezcal. Formidable aromatics. The palate is equally seductive, fluid and elegant. A bit more tannin presence this year, but still quite fine and silky, which enhances the elegance of this wine. Drinkable now, but will hold." - James Suckling

This makes me think of mezcal. Formidable aromatics. The palate is equally seductive, fluid and elegant. Such an expressive and attractive nose that opens up and talks to you directly, with tangy white pepper spices and Mezcal-like herbs. Agile and alluring, but harmonious, too. Pure raspberries, strawberries, fresh herbs, pomegranate and flowers. Elegant and soulful, full of juicy red berry flavors with a light yet quintessential, medium-bodied palate, rounded by chalky, minerally-textured tannins. Long, linear and full of energy and clarity. Ethereal and weightless. Already delicious, but will hold very well, too. Exciting drinkability.

Mossy nose with a steely note to the mineral, flowers, orange peel and racy strawberries, fresh hawthorn and raspberries. A hint of white pepper, too. Ethereal and agile on the palate with some delicate, fine herbs to the elegant berry fruit. All about finesse and purity here. Drink or hold.

Aromas of ripe cherries, dried strawberries, blueberries, dried herbs and flowers. Medium-bodied, polished and refined with a chalky and soft tannin structure. Juicy and fleshy with delicious fruit character. Lingering finish with notes of crushed stones and a spicy edge. From organically grown grapes. Try now, but better after 2023.

Plenty of sweet berries, such as strawberries and plums with some citrus. Full-bodied with round tannins and a fresh finish. Layered and intense, but there’s lovely purity of fruit and a delicious, juicy finish. So attractive now, but better in two or three years.

Dezente, gut eingebundene Würznoten.

Une cuvée exceptionnelle qui réaffirme une fois de plus le talent de ce célèbre vigneron espagnol. Quiñón de Valmira 2016 est le troisième millésime de ce Grenache exceptionnel issu d’un seul vignoble de trois hectares dans la région du même nom, à Monte de Yerga. Sur ce terroir unique, les vignes poussent sur un sol composé d’argile rouge et de craie avec un sous-sol rocheux qui confère à ce grand vin une dimension minérale sans pareil. Au nez, il déploie des arômes élégants de cerises, de cassis, de framboises et de figues, relevés de notes herbacées, florales et calcaires. Bien structuré, puissant et profond, mais habité d’une merveilleuse vitalité, il s’affirme avec une acidité étonnante qui équilibre la générosité du vin. Malgré son intensité, après avoir profité d’une finale aussi longue que spectaculaire, il ne reste qu’un heureux souvenir d’harmonie et d’élégance. Oxygéner en carafe ±2 heures et servir à 17 °C. Spectaculaire en compagnie d’un couscous d’agneau, de côtelettes de chevreuil, du magret de canard rôti, du médaillon de bison, ou du carré d’agneau grillé.
