2018 Arboleda Cabernet Sauvignon

Tinto elaborado exclusivamente a partir de uvas Cabernet Sauvignon, com estágio de 14 meses em barricas de carvalho francês, sendo 30% novas. Mantendo o estilo frutado, refinado e amável da casa, tem acidez refrescante e taninos firmes e finos, que conferem equilíbrio e fluidez ao vinho. Cativante nos aromas e franco nos sabores, tem final suculento e persistente, com toques florais, terrosos, de cassis, de alcaçuz e de menta. Álcool 13,5%.

90 minutes north of Santiago, Aconcagua is home to warm, powerful cabernet sauvignon, first brought to my attention by Errazuriz. In this case, the cassis and black cherry with a savoury Boldo jump from the glass, with an oaky undercurrent courtesy of 14 months in French barriques (30% new). Somewhat disjointed for a simple red wine. Ready to drink and best served with hamburgers. (Anthony Gismondi).

The subtle tobacco, blackcurrant and sliced-mushroom character is impressive on the nose with hints of spice and black chocolate. Medium to full body with a compressed fruit and tannin feel. Racy and structured at the finish. Grippy. Needs time to come around. Better after 2021.

Las Vertientes is a vineyard that Errázuriz planted in 1999, largely to cabernet sauvignon, the base of this wine. With 14 months in barrels (30% new), what predominates here are notes of mint and tea. The fruity flavors are ripe and juicy in a wine that deserves smoked pork chops.
