The '01 Beringer Merlot hits most of the right buttons on the nose mixing plums cedar and ripe black cherry aromas. It's open supple sleek and tasty on the palate with slight herbaceous hint in the finish. Solid, middle of the road merlot. (Anthony Gismondi and Stuart Tobe).
2001 Vintage
It's surprising to see a four-year-old wine released at such an inexpensive price. Maybe Beringer was hoping it would come around. Instead, it's just tired. Already losing fruit, it's dry and brittle.
