Fondée en 1958 dans la ville de Borja, au nord-ouest de la province de Saragosse, Bodega Borsao, reconnue comme l’un des principaux producteurs de Grenache, est à l’origine de l’appellation «Campo de Borja» qui se situe en Aragon, dans le nord-est de l’Espagne. Cette cuvée «Berola» illustre parfaitement la typicité de cette appellation en mettant en valeur le Grenache qui a été assemblé ici à 20 % de Syrah qui apporte une touche juteuse au vin et reflète ainsi un style plutôt «Nouveau Monde». Au nez, le vin se révèle expressif, dévoilant des arômes de prune, fraise, cassis et myrtille, enrichis de touches florales et d’encens. À l’aération, des nuances poivrées, balsamiques, fumées et de cacao s’ajoutent à cette palette aromatique. Mi-corsé en bouche, il révèle son amplitude, sa rondeur et son profil gourmand, habité de tanins arrondis et parfaitement intégrés. L’ensemble, d’une étonnante intensité, s’avère bien équilibré et harmonieux. Servir à 17 °C. Idéal pour accompagner le filet de porc, la bavette de boeuf sauce teriyaki, les côtes levées sauce barbecue, le filet mignon sauce au poivre, ou le risotto aux champignons sauvages.

Ripe blackberry and black cherry aromas come with Christmas spice, fennel seed and nutmeg accents. This Garnacha-based red blend is big and sappy, as should be expected from Campo de Borja. Stalky, burnt aromas are fruitless and less than friendly. In the mouth, this blend of Garnacha, Syrah and Cabernet is grabby and rough. Burnt, gritty flavors are underripe and oaky, while vanilla and chocolate notes on the finish can't hide the fact that this is deficient. Michael Schachner

Although this blend is perfectly good, it does have an herbal, green, minty streak that's likely due to the 30% Syrah and Cabernet bolstering 70% Garnacha. Aromas of mint, herbs, milk chocolate and plastic lead to snappy herb, spice, plum and raspberry flavors. The finish is fiery, drying and spicy.
