Sourced from Edna Valley vineyards, the 2022 ‘Central Coast’ Chardonnay was stored in only 10% new French oak before bottling. Juicy and soft on the mouth, offering poached pear, hazelnuts and vanilla cream flavors, this is already nicely evolved stuff.

I call this a loud Chardonnay — loud in the way a perfectly executed trumpet fanfare from a few yards away is loud. This has huge energy, showing apple, pear, soft spice, moderate oak influence and singing acidity that provides real drive. It is crowd pleasing and complex at once. This Mt. Harlan bottling shows really nice aromatic range with white grapefruit blossom and toasty oak alongside brioche tones and baking spices that are all woven together in the glass. The freshness imparted is seriously good as layers of Meyer lemon cake and nutmeg mingle with wild mushroom and wet stone with a great veil of tension on the palate. Delightful to enjoy now, this outstanding new Chardonnay will cellar well over the next eight to ten years.

- This outstanding new wine was sourced from Bien Nacido as well as Zabala Vineyard, and Pedregal Vineyards. The nose shows toasty oak with brioche and nutmeg, alongside toasted hazelnut aromatics that fill the glass. The palate shows a creamy texture and ripe mouthfeel with a good combination of melon and citrus fruit flavors that connect with bright minerality.

One sip everyone knows the rules.... I give this Chardonnay an 8.5 out of 10. It’s smooth and not too sweet. The best taste of the wine is the after taste which is always a plus.

Chardonnay 100%. Rate 4.7. Nice bouquet. Medium bodied, very well banced. Hints of oak, citrus, vanilla. Similar to old world Chardonnays. Smooth medium length mineral finish.
