Château Cantemerle is a gorgeous property and one of the first two classified growths (the other is La Lagune) one encounters, just before the Margaux vineyards, when driving up D2 from the city into the Medoc. The wine is fruity but lean, with raspberry flavors and a touch of leather toward the end, gripping tannins and good acidity. The palate is beautifully together, it is mid-weight with some nicely defined cassis & cedar notes. The elements comprising the palate are extremely well integrated. Alcohol is in balance & the finish is lifted by nice fresh acidity that keeps the dark cherry fruit on the finish fresh & juicy. 03/23 DCAMW
