This is another very young wine which benefits from decanting. Its aromas are marked by pencil lead, black fruit and cigars. The round first impressions in the mouth are due to the subtlety of the Cabernets which express themselves with finesse and complexity, displaying spice bread flavors. This is a vintage of great sunshine which produced mature and powerful tannins marked by freshness. There’s no need to rush this wine, it will still be great in ten years. It can only get better with age, but it already shows great class!

Tiefdunkles Rubingranat, violette Reflexe, zarte Randaufhellung süße rote Beerenfrucht, angenehme Holzwürze, zart nach Vanille, ein Hauch von Kirschen, frische Ribisel. Mittlerer Körper, zart nach Weichseln, etwas blättrige Tannine, frischer Säurebogen, noch etwas spröde im Abgang, zitroniger Nachhall.

Château Cantemerle, a property included as a 5th growth in the famed 1855 Médoc Classification, is always a great value. In a stellar year, such as 2010, it’s even a better buy. The vineyard is planted to Cabernet Sauvignon (50%), Merlot (40%) with the remaining acreage divided evenly between Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Since the blend usually reflects what’s planted, the fleshiness of the 2010 may represent the high proportion of Merlot and Petit Verdot. A vivid freshness, a welcome characteristic of the 2010 vintage, balances its lush ripeness. With time in the glass, a haunting, dense minerality appears in this suave, beautifully textured wine. Easy to enjoy now, it will, like many grand Bordeaux, “close up” in the next couple of years, so pop the cork soon or plan to cellar it for a decade. (Michael Apstein)

Cantemerle gehört zu den verkanntesten Crus Classés des linken Ufers. Jahrelang musste das Gut sich mit dem Attribut "zuverlässig" zufrieden geben. Doch seit vier, fünf Jahren produziert es Spitzenweine von klassischer Dichte und Fülle. 2010 ist der vorläufige Höhepunkt dieser Entwicklung und unser Liebling in dieser Nachverkostung. Wir setzen ihn für einmal gar vor La Lagune, der uns - auf hohem Niveau - doch etwas enttäuschte. Er besitzt Frische und Fülle, die als Puffer dienen für ein kerniges Tannin, das lange Reife sichert und damit eine optimale Entwicklung der Aromen über die nächsten Jahre hinweg. Kann - mindestens zwei Stunden karaffiert - etwa ab 2016 genossen werden - doch wir raten, sich an die angegebene optimale Trinkreife zu halten. Der besten Preis für diesen Wein liegt nur knapp über der 30 Euro Grenze!
