Most second labels of Bordeaux châteaux that aren’t first or second growths can be greeted with a shrug – enjoyable but not memorable – while third labels should be approached as warily as blind dates. To find G d’Estournel not only to be good, but quite good, is a pleasant surprise – very harmonious with blackberry and red raspberry flavors, mature oak notes and nutty tannins. A great value for someone who wants to regularly drink good Left Bank wines but can’t afford to.( Roger Morris)

Soyeux.
