2017 d'Arenberg The Noble Wrinkled Riesling

The excellent botrytis conditions of vintage 2008 gave rise to the 'Noble Mud Pie' and 'Noble Prankster' wines, and the addition of 'Wrinkled' to 'The Noble (Wrinkled) Riesling'.

Critic tasting note: (2017 vintage) "What a joyful wine, and it's a total bargain to boot. Made from botrytis-affected Riesling grapes and the color of burnt sugar, this sweetie is complex and evocative. It smells like a walk in the woods in autumn, leaves crunch under foot, mushrooms sprout on damp logs, and, in the distance, a whiff of smoke from a campfire where nuts are roasting. Then there's the sweeter notes: toffee, candied orange and fig. Riesling's natural acidity cuts through the sweetness on the palate, where the citrus shows more prominently.
