Tasted: Aug 2013
Dunkles Rubingranat, violette Reflexe, zarter Wasserrand. Verhaltenes Bukett, feine rotbeerige Nuancen, zarte blättrige Würze, Orangenzesten unterlegt. Mittlere Komplexität, rotes Waldbeerkonfit, gut eingebettete Tannine, zitroniger Touch, mineralische Anklänge, zart vegetaler Touch im Nachhall, Weichseln im Rückgeschmack.

Better known for its Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Beaurenard's CdR represents better value. Hints of sandalwood and briary-herbal nuances accent ripe black cherries in the medium-weight wine. The satiny texture leads into a dry finish lined with fine-grained tannins. Drink now–2012. Imported by New Castle Imports.

Mostly grenache with a bit of syrah and cinsault. Spicy, black cherry, orange, licorice, peppery, meaty aromas. Round, dry, elegant and supple palate, a forward style. Cherry jam, orange, spicy, peppery, licorice flavours. Soft, dry, slightly austere finish. A bit restrained but good for food. (Anthony Gismondi and Stuart Tobe).

Tasted: Mar 2007
Big garrigue, spicy, cooked black cherry, licorice root, dark chocolate, mineral aromas. Rich, ripe, round, slightly tannic entry but elegant and warm. Full with big black cherry, smoky, mineral, black licorice, orange compote flavours. Finish is a bit tannic but has good fruit. Needs 1-2 years, a more serious style. (Anthony Gismondi).

Chocolate, orange peel, black raspberry, meaty, minty, garrigue nose. Soft, round, full and ripe but dry with light tannins. Big black cherry, raspberry, orange, peppery, cardamom, minty flavours with fresh acidity on the finish with a touch of raisins. Good fruit and balance but needs food for the dryness at the end. Roast duck or lamb is the key. (Anthony Gismondi).

Open attractive red berry fruit nose with hints of licorice and game. It expands across the palate offering rich, warm, red fruit flavours flecked with a peppery ripe spicy licorice and black cherry through the finish. A surprisingly stylish, full flavoured red for such a simple appellation. A delicious, affordable introduction to the Rhone. (Anthony Gismondi).

Lovely open black raspberry gamey style nose with pepper licorice undertones. This is a warmer, richer hotter style CdR that's already showing some maturity. Love the spicy black raspberry and cherry jam flavours. A wonderful wine from a very fine vintage. (Anthony Gismondi).

Lightweight, but the aromas are clean and reasonably complex, and the flavors follow suit. Bright raspberry and cherry fruit is accented by peppery spice and a hint of leather. Drink now.
