    • This wine is labeled 'Riserva' in exceptional vintages. In such cases, the white label is changed to red. Before 2008, it was labeled as Falletto di Serralunga d'Alba.

      Critic tasting note: (2021 vintage) "This is all about purity, with cherries, strawberries, spices, sandalwood, iodine, seashells and black truffles on the nose. Full-bodied but so balanced and focused, with layering and vertically that go on and on. The nebbiolo character is intense and gorgeous. Some pure fruit at the end, with notes of flint and gunpowder. Best after 2027, but it’s already a joy to taste." - James Suckling

2021 Vintage Tasted: Aug 2024
This is all about purity, with cherries, strawberries, spices, sandalwood, iodine, seashells and black truffles on the nose. Full-bodied but so balanced and focused, with layering and vertically that go on and on. The nebbiolo character is intense and gorgeous. Some pure fruit at the end, with notes of flint and gunpowder. Best after 2027, but it’s already a joy to taste.
2020 Vintage Tasted: Aug 2024
The depth and beauty of this are so enticing and attractive that you want to drink the whole bottle. It’s medium- to full-bodied with cherries, strawberries and white truffles. Juicy and precise, with a real presence and complexity as it opens. Best after 2027, but already gorgeous.

2019 Vintage Tasted: Jun 2023
Lovely aromas of strawberries, plums, and berries. Bark and mushrooms. Complex and aromatic. Medium to full body with super fine tannins that are supple and gorgeous. Lovely length. So attractive now. Leave it for four or five years. Better after 2027.
2017 Vintage Tasted: Apr 2021
Sweet berries, smoke, cedar and olives on the nose. Floral. Full-bodied with firm, chewy tannins and a pretty background and ripe fruit. Flavorful finish. Hints of bitter citrus and smoke, too. Very complex. Powerful for Falletto. Drink after 2026.
2016 Vintage Tasted: Apr 2020
This is a really dense red with intensity and beauty, showing dried fruit, such as strawberries, as well as chocolate, tar, hazelnuts and meat. Really complex and rich. Opulent, yet tense with dusty tannins. Extremely long. Great finish. Hard not to drink now, but will age incredibly well. Try after 2025.
2016 Vintage Tasted: Jan 2020
Devastante l'impatto sensoriale della matrice regala emozioni e ricordi a primo impatto. Di innaturale perfezione al naso dispensa lentamente la ricchezza sensoriale con una varietà importante di note odorose che ricordano le prugne rosse, le amarene, la radice di ginseng, la cenere arsa ed i fiori di magnolia. Il sottofondo ha una vita propria e regala note di erbe officinali e note balsamiche. Corpo pieno, tannini setosi di egregia qualità fini ed imperialmente integrati nella matrice ed un finale di natura mista verticale-orizzontale di lunga persistenza. Spiazzante la qualità del frutto aftertasting. Meglio dal 2022.
2015 Vintage Tasted: Jan 2019
Superb aromas of ripe fruit, such as plums and berries with peaches and tar. Very intense. Full body, great depth and density. Incredible richness and power with superb length and persistence. One of the most dense and vertical Falletos I have tasted. Try in 2025.
2014 Vintage Tasted: Apr 2018
Impressive fresh leather-clad red cherries with a subtle earthiness in the background. Quite pure. Floral and aromatic. The palate has a very elegant yet powerful core of blueberries and cherries. A smooth release of fruit sweetness into the fresh and vibrant finish. Elegant and classic. More open than normal. Impressive now but better from 2022.
2012 Vintage Tasted: Feb 2017
A young wine that builds on the palate with plums, spices, cedar and hints of chocolate. Turns to hazelnuts. Full to medium body, but this builds on the palate. Juicy and chewy with caressing tannins. Love the way it grows on the palate. Better in 2019.
2011 Vintage Tasted: Jan 2016
One of the most balanced and impressive Barolos from the hot 2011 vintage, this opens with alluring aromas of mature black cherry, tobacco and spice. The smooth, full-bodied palate abounds with ripe raspberry, juicy strawberry, chopped herb, clove and cinnamon alongside firm but polished tannins that give the wine a silky mouthfeel. Drink 2018–2031.
2011 Vintage Tasted: Oct 2015
The subtle and complex aromas are mesmerizing here in this famous Barolo with strawberries, red roses, citrus and fresh walnuts. It's full-bodied yet reserved and beautiful with an incredible backbone of firm and composed tannins that form a gorgeous tannin line to the wine. It's so silky textured with incredible depth of fruit and a long, long finish. Savory and structured at the same time. This needs five to six years to soften and come together. Better in 2020.
2009 Vintage Tasted: Jan 2014
A very balanced and refined Barolo with plums, strawberries and cedar. Full body, yet fresh and clean. Long and silky finish. A wine that builds on the palate. Better in 2016.
2007 Vintage Tasted: Jun 2013
Incredible depth of fruit. Strawberries, flowers and earth steal the show. Beautiful, with clean comportment. Breathtaking structure and a ravishing finish.
2008 Vintage Tasted: Dec 2012
So floral and beautiful with roses and lilacs. Hints of plums and strawberries. Full-bodied, with ultra fine tannins and a subtle yet intense finish of hazelnut and dark fruits. Goes on for ages. Better after 2016.
2000 Vintage Tasted: Jul 2011
Beautiful stuff. Ripe fruit, leather, and flowers. Full on the palate and very velvety. Ripe and intense waves of fruit makes me want to reach for another glass now. A real beauty.
2005 Vintage Tasted: Jul 2011
I love the juicy fruit character of this wine. Ripe fruit, berries, and dried strawberries. Robust and substantial. Check back after 2014.
2004 Vintage Tasted: Jul 2011
Compelling aromas of citrus fruit and berries. Full-bodied, medium tannins and a long pretty finish. This is ready.
2001 Vintage Tasted: Nov 2005
Leuchtendes Rubin mit Granatnoten; betörende Nase mit Noten nach Waldhimbeeren, Brombeeren, eingelegten Kirschen, etwas Leder, Orangenkonfitüre; am Gaumen überaus geschliffen, zeigt sich sehr elegant, öffnet mit einem weiten Bogen, im Finale viel feinkörniges Tannin, anhaltend.
1999 Vintage Tasted: Feb 2004
Big-boned but not showing much flesh, this wine didn't appear to be at its best when we tasted it, yet it was still impressive. Scents of rubber, tar and prunes, flavors of red berries and cherry tomatoes. Long finish that builds in intensity is a positive sign for aging. Anticipated maturity: 2012–2020.
