First Growth. Premier Cru Classe in 1855.
Expert tasting note: (2022 vintage) "The wine has a pale to medium golden-yellow color. The aromas on the nose are of honeysuckle & passionfruit. The palate is very sweet with lovely, luscious pineapple fruit, honeyed notes & a honeysuckle perfume. The wine is medium to full bodied with balanced acidity & alcohol adding a little warmth. The finish is long & ends with well balanced sweetness." - 04/23 (ep) DCAMW

- Premier Cru Classe (Sauternes & Barsac)
- Producer Notes
- Every autumn a microscopic fungus called le « Botrytis Cinerea » appears and transforms the grapes. This is the famous 'noble rot' that is Nature's gift to Chateau Guiraud. In autumn the grapes take on a dark colour which can even seem austere, but this 'noble rot' is a precursor of aromatic expression. Understanding this phenomenon is essential as only the grapes that have been perfectly concentrated by the Botrytis will be picked one by one.

Vintage quality: Excellent
Current condition: Will keep
For Sauternes, the vintage was surprisingly excellent despite the sometimes-turbulent growing season.
The growing season began with a cool but relatively dry winter, which then turned into an equally dry spring. Temperatures then rose at a rapid pace making for both an e...
