The 2022 Jacks Masterpiece Cabernet Sauvignon is a blend of 95% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Merlot. Deep garnet-purple colored, it strides out with up-front scents of baked black cherries, dried mulberries, and plum pudding, opening out to touches of garrigue, charcoal, and tobacco. The full-bodied palate offers approachable, nicely managed tannins and compelling freshness to match the generous fruit, finishing long and opulent.

The 2022 HALL ‘Jack’s Masterpiece’ Cabernet Sauvignon is mainly sourced from Diamond Mountain with a small portion coming from the Rainin Vineyard. The wine is a tannic, chiseled monster that will need a few years to tame. Black currant cordial, espresso grounds, black forest cake and suggestions of Cuban cigar all come together magically on the palate. The wine is massive and dense yet shows loads of mouth-watering acidity. This is going to be a joy to drink someday.

Named after director of winemaking Mike Reynolds’s youngest son, the 2021 HALL ‘Jack’s Masterpiece’ Cabernet Sauvignon is a proprietary barrel selection wine made by the winemaking team. Very inky in the glass, this offers black rose petals notes on the nose with pencil lead, Asian spices, Turkish coffee and shades of black licorice. The palate is velvety and soft with serious concentration and great underlying finesse. Finishing very long, this will easily be a 20 year wine.

Named after HALL director of winemaking Mike Reynolds’s son, Jack, the ‘Jack’s Masterpiece’ is a stunning new wine that has some serious aging potential. Sourced from more than 20 vineyard sites, this shows off ripe dark currants that mingle with espresso bean, blackberry compote, graphite and leather undertones on the palate. Silky tannins and a lengthy finish complete this beautiful Cabernet Sauvignon bottling that has a really long way to go in the cellar.

The 2017 ‘Jack’s Masterpiece’ is a dense, hedonistic Cabernet Sauvignon that has a long life in the cellar ahead of it. Enticing aromas of creme de cassis, tar, cigar ash and chocolate covered espresso bean tones all sing in unison on the nose. The palate is dense, plush, and downright delicious. Rich black currants dance with mocha, tar, anise, dark chocolate shavings and sweet pipe tobacco tones on the palate. Decadent, yet elegant, with outstanding length and poise, this beautiful wine will cellar well for decades to come. If enjoying in its youth, be sure to give this a two to three hour decant.

This sultry, voluptuous and rich wine is intense in leather saddle, earth and sweet oak, with a generous concentration of syrupy black fruit. Dried herb and grippy tannins round it out and offer balance against the richness.

Smoky cherry and mocha flavors are accented by dark chocolate and sweet oak in this lush, creamy red that is made in a rich, layered style. Lasting notes of tobacco, dusty sage and brawny tannin round out the impressive experience.

The 2016 ‘Jack’s Masterpiece’ by HALL is a stunning new wine that is built to age for decades. Sourced from a host of Napa Valley AVAs, the ‘Jack’s Masterpiece’ shows deep tar, Turkish coffee, dried sage, with dusty terroir aromatics all are brilliantly woven together on this expressive nose. The power on the mid-palate is quite massive as the wine shows moderate tannins with shades of espresso bean, tar, black currant jelly and shades of blackberry pie. Seductive and intense in its youth this beautiful wine will cellar well for decades. Try to give this spectacular wine at least another year prior to consumption.

Former HALL head winemaker, Mike Reynolds, heads the blending of this wine which is intended to be a deeper expression of Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine is a vineyard selection of the more dense fruits. The nose is highly complex and intense with espresso, dark chocolate and gobs of creme de cassis currently on parade. The hedonistic nose brings you back to the glass for more. Creme de cassis, pencil lead, dark cherry compote, mocha, anise and red bell pepper flavors all marvelous build in the glass. Very intense and focused, with moderate tannins, this is an extremely long ager that needs at least one more year of bottle age.

This is a sturdy, grippy and youthful 100% varietal wine, from vineyards planted in mountainous locations. Bright focused acidity lifts dense flavors of black cherry and sage that are wrapped in spicy, clove-driven oak. Enjoy best from 2024–2034.

- This is the tenth rendition of this wine. The Cabernet is sourced from a host of vineyards throughout the HALL. The wine is named after former winemaker and current HALL president, Mike Reynold’s, youngest son. The wine opens with intense aromatics of mocha, Turkish coffee, pipe tobacco and candied red cherry. This is another stunner by HALL as the wine revealed dense flavors of black forest cake, cigar ash, creme de cassis and espresso. Dense, layered and polished, this is impossible to resist right now but will have an exceedingly long age in the cellar.

Full-throttle red with cooked fruit, chocolate and treacle-tart character. Full-bodied, very old-school red that some may love. But the power and raisin style are overdone for me.
2012 Vintage
Tasted: May 2016
A small percentage of Merlot softens the otherwise full-bodied nature of this wine, a blend from various vineyards across the valley. Cassis, cranberry and a high-toned liveliness provide an elegance around leathery tannins and toasty oak, finishing with length.

Tasted: Feb 2015
The 4% Petit Verdot in this dark, inky Cabernet Sauvignon is doing its job in terms of color and structure, adding much of both to the mix. Overall the wine is savory and full-bodied on the palate, with bits of spicy clove and sage around black cherry and toasted oak. Enjoy through 2030.

Tasted: Nov 2013
Firm tannins and good acidity mark this 100% Cabernet, which, like all Hall wines, is high in alcohol yet balanced. It's deep and long in blackberry jam, mocha and new-oak flavors. This is appealing now for its sheer drinkability and deliciousness, but its inherent subtleties will become increasingly apparent with age. Drink now–2020.
2008 Vintage
Tasted: Nov 2011
Solidly in the Hall style of voluptuous, stylish Cabernets, rich in fruit and softly sweet. With a flood of blackberries, cassis and chocolate, it's intricately structured with finely ground tannins that give a sting of astringency. Probably best consumed soon with rich beef dishes.

Tasted: Jun 2011
A red with rich aromas of dark fruits and sweet tobacco with hints of minerals. Even mahogany. Full-bodied, with a fleshy mouthfeel and lots of fruit. Full throttle style but some reserve as well. Round and polished tannins. Better in 2013.

A masterpiece it may be, but right now, in its precocious youth, it's all jammy fruit and smoky oak. But what jam! What oak! Tastes rich and compellingly good, like being swept away on a tidal wave of blackberry essence and cocoa. Very good, very rich, very fine, but you want to stash it away for a few years to let the parts meld.

A gorgeous Cab in every way. Seduces for its fantastic wealth of black currants, dark chocolate, plum, cedar and spice flavors that are so deep and long. Yet the richness is balanced with beautifully ripe, refined tannins and just-in-time acidity. Distinguished and classic. The grapes are from St. Helena, Diamond Mountain and Hall's Sacrashe Vineyard. Now through 2012.
