An impressive wine with substantial structure on the compact, but very bright, medium-bodied palate. Terrific blackcurrant and elderberry fruit is wrapped around plush tannins that build in the firm but really well-balanced finish. Drinkable now but best from 2028.
2020 Vintage

Not just in the Austrian context, but in the global context, this is an impressive cabernet that reminds me a bit of northeastern Italian wines and Medoc wines from cooler vintages. Ripe blackcurrant fruit and notes of summer flowers are married to a hints of bell pepper, graphite, raw meat and smoke. Firmly structured on the medium-bodied palate, but the tannins are really fine and that makes it drinkable now. Excellent aging potential. Drink or hold.

Dark ruby, deep core, purple reflections, discreet brightening on the rim. Herbal spice, wood nuances, a touch of cassis and liquorice, nougat, still somewhat restrained. Powerful, juicy, subtle red berry nuances, ripe, supporting tannins, mineral, discreet fruit, has length, will benefit from bottle ageing.

Deep blackcurrant, blackberry and spicy nose with hints of roasted bell pepper and bitter chocolate. In spite of a stack of tannins, this is crisp on the palate rather than feeling heavy or monumental. Stunning energy on the very ripe yet focused palate. Great aging potential. Drinkable now, but best from 2024.

Deep ruby, purple glints, faintly lighter at the rim. Soft savoury wood nuances, subtle hints of cardamom, a touch of cassis, candied violets, and soft notions of caramel. Juicy, tightly woven, red berry nuances, firm tannins, chocolatey with a dash of vanilla. Good ageing potential.

Dark ruby, opaque core, purple reflections, brightening on the rim. Fine wood spice, a hint of dark chocolate, inviting aroma of dark forest berryish confit, hints of currants, caramel in the background. Juicy, good complexity, firm, taut tannins, delicate notes of cassis, ripe cherries, tobacco aftertaste, versatile food wine with certain ageing potential.
2017 Vintage

Dark ruby garnet with purple reflections and a light rim brightening. Restrained black berry fruit, a breath of cassis and menthol with background notes of fine oak spiciness on the nose. The wine is complex, substantial, with black fruit and supporting, firm tannins and flavours of dark nougat on the back palate. At the moment it is quite shy and needs further bottle ageing.

Dark ruby with an opaque core and purple reflections, brightening at the rim. A fine scent of cassis is underlaid with savoury wood, a hint of liquorice, delicate orange zest, and tobacco nuances. Juicy and vivid, with sweet tannin, some nougat on the finish, and a blackberry aftertaste. It is a savoury, elegant food companion with certain ageing potential.

Dunkles Rubingranat, opaker Kern, violette Reflexe, zarte Randaufhellung. Zart nach Vanille unterlegte schwarze Kirschnuancen, ein Hauch von Cassis, feines Nougat, angenehmer Karamelltouch. Kraftvoll, engmaschig, süße Kirschen, feste, tragende Tannine, schwarze Beeren im Nachhall, Röstnote im Rückgeschmack.

Dark ruby, deep core, purple reflections, soft brightening on the rim. Attractive blackberry fruit and confit, some cassis, a hint of caramel and tobacco nuances. Complex, juicy, ripe cherries, prominent tannins that seem a bit rough at the moment, taut style, will benefit from further bottle ageing.

Deep dark ruby garnet, opaque core, purple reflections, delicate watery edge. Underlaid with a bit of ripe cherry, fine wood savouriness, hints of black berries and herbal savouriness, nougat nuances. Complex, black cherries, integrated tannins, dark wild berry fruit on the finish, persistent, certain ageing potential.

Dark ruby, purple reflections, a subtle brightening on the rim. Fine notes of nougat beneath fine oak, dark forest berries, a hint of cassis, an attractive bouquet. Complex, dark fruit, vivid, well-integrated tannins, a chocolatey finish, full of spices and persistent, will benefit from further ageing.

kräftiges Rubingranat, dunkler Kern, violette Reflexe. In der Nase rauchig unterlegte dunkle Beerenfrucht, frische Zwetschken, feine Edelholzanklänge. Stoffig, extraktsüß, komplex, süße Beerenfrucht, kraftvolle Tannine, bleibt gut haften, zeigt eine gute Länge, feine Schokonote im Abgang, sehr gutes Reifepotenzial.

dunkles Rubingranat, opaker Kern, violette Reflexe. Feine schwarze Beerenfrucht, angenehmer Cassis-Touch, dezente florale Nuancen, zarte schokoladige Nuancen, feine tabakige Anklänge. Saftig, hochelegante Textur, reife Herzkirschen, etwas Lakritze, seidige Tannine, finessenreich, wunderbar ausbalanciert, schwarze Beeren im Abgang, stoffig, sehr gute Länge, Schokolade im Rückgeschmack, gutes Reifepotenzial.

kräftiges Rubingranat, dunkler Kern, violette Reflexe. In der Nase mineralisch unterlegte Cassisnote, ein Hauch von Mandarinen und Brombeergelee, zarte Minze, tabakige Nuancen. Am Gaumen stoffig, schwarze Beeren, komplexe extraktsüße Textur, frische Säurestruktur, angenehmer Brombeernachhall, hat eine gute Länge, wird von Flaschenreife profitieren, gute Zukunft.
