The grosse mérille variety is not very widespread in the world and is known in Chile as Chilean verdot. By genetics, it has little color and lots of aroma along with an abundance of tannins. And those are the characteristics you'll find in this Chilean version from 20-year-old vineyards planted in the Sagrada Familia zone of the Curicó Valley. It's the classic light and easy-drinking wine to go with sausages or to sip while the meat cooks on the grill.

Korta has grosse merille vineyards planted about 20 years ago in Sagrada Familia in the Curicó Valley. This variety, also known as Chilean verdot, is scarcely found in South America. With little color and tannins, it's almost a claret and close to a rosé, but it's a wine with delicious fruit. Subtle and almost ethereal, it's a red with the spirit of a white. One to drink by the liter.

Gross merille is a very rare variety in the world, and it’s known locally as Chilean verdot. Genetically, it has little color and a lot of aroma, with very present tannins. And that’s what you’ll find here, a wine that is fruit more than anything else, a delight of red fruit aromas in a body that appears delicate but that has fierce tannins and a lot of grip. This wine could be fascinating in the future, but for now, it’s a work in progress. We, at least, have not seen anything like this in Chile—a relative of trousseau?

Pale colour - Very interesting herbal and floral nose with notes of clove and strawberry. Lively acid led palate with red fruit and spices with a very pleasant grip to the tannins. A really interesting wine that reminds me of Trousseau. Serve lightly chilled with salamis and cold meats.

Grosse mérille is a light-colored, subtle-bodied variety that was recently rediscovered in Chile. This example offers notes of cherries and flowers with delicate body and sweet tones that might make it less interesting but much more commercial.
