When to drink: 2027 to 2047

The 2022 La Tour Figeac, 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc, is deep garnet-purple in color. It has a beautiful perfume of violets and licorice giving way to a core of baked red and black plums and stewed cherries. The full-bodied palate is plush and harmonious, with just enough freshness to support the generous fruit, finishing gracefully. This is nicely done!

A juicy and expressive red with plum and berry character as well as hints of crushed stones and grilled citrus. Medium- to full-bodied, it has juicy fruit and a flavorful finish. 65% merlot and 35% cabernet franc. 10% whole-bunch fermentation. Very attractive now but even better in two or three years.

The tannins are a little chalky & drying, but the wine's ripe aromas suggest it should open. Balanced alcohol adds a little roundness to the finish. 04/22 DCAMW

The palate has a little supple red-fruit character (strawberry, raspberry & plum). There is nice freshness, reasonable suppleness, while retaining good grip. The acidity is lively & the alcohol is not too high. The fruit character is a little simple, but the wine works well, providing attractive mid-term drinking. 11/06 DCAMW

Deep, dark ruby-red color is very nearly opaque. The nose is super-jammy with wonderfully ripe, pure raspberry fruit, chocolate & cocoa-butter aromas. The palate combines fresh raspberry with darker notes of over-maturity & clean vanilla oak. Lovely fresh acidity gives the finish fair length. Warming alcohol rounds-out the fruit on the finish. This is an attractive & accessible modern-style wine typical of La Tour Figeac, probably better suited to mid-term drinking than long cellaring. 11/07 DCAMW

Deep, dark, opaque ruby-red color. The nose has deep, juicy black-cherry aromas with delicate cedar notes. The palate's red & black cherry fruit is rich with soft tannins. Fine, ripe tannins on the mid-palate give good grip. The alcohol is a touch warm but fresh acidity helps to keep the fruit lively & supple. The finish lasts well. This is an open, clean & opulent modern wine - a nice example of La Tour Figeac. 11/09 DCAMW

A good, deep. dark, ruby-red color holds very well right to the rim of the glass. Ripe plum & damson fruit aromas are dominated by clean new oak. Fruit on the palate is ripe & has a concentrated liquorice nature but it is to the most part closed up by tight tannins. Acidity is quite soft, alcohol adds some warmth & length is fairly average. 11/05 DCAMW

Deep, dark ruby-red color, not quite opaque. Aromas are ripe, modern & clean red/black fruit, with touches of vanilla oak. The palate shows ripe red/black fruit, supported by fresh acidity. The structure is a little angular, with good acid emphasising the tannic grip. Alcohol is balanced but the finish is currently drying 11/12 DCAMW
