Second label of Chateau Lafite Rothschild. Initially called Moulin des Carruades.
Expert tasting note: (2024 vintage) "Deep, dark, not quite opaque purple-ruby. Restrained savory aromas open slowly to reveal delicate cassis fruit. The palate displays vivid cassis fruit & lovely, pure black-cherry notes. Good acidity lifts pure cassis on the mid-palate beautifully. The medium-bodied wine has enough alcohol to give richness to the mid-palate. The palate has a good density of fine tannins adding cedar hints to the back-palate. The long finish is fine & elegant." - 04/25 ep DCAMW

- Producer Notes
- Château Lafite Rothschild’s second wine, Carruades de Lafite presents similar characteristics to the Grand Vin, but with its own personality linked to a higher proportion of Merlot and to specific plots that are used to produce Carruades. The name comes from the Carruades plateau, a group of plots acquired in 1845 just next to the vines on the Château hilltop.

A much-loved stopover for sailors before their Transatlantic crossing, the Azores are an archipelago of 9 islands, often protected by a magical high-pressure zone. For Carruades 2024, we join them on a dashing Ketch, a two-masted boat that requires twice as much precision and anticipation to balance in difficult weather. Like a navigator bent over his nautical charts, Louis knows each of these islands of terroir like the back of his hand: his mission was to help these parcels progress! Sharp trajectories, skillful pruning, he kept a firm grip on the helm of their ripeness despite the rough weather.

The winter was extremely wet, with levels of rain not seen since 2000. However, temperatures were also warmer than usual and the humid conditions in...
