Critic tasting note: (2016 vintage) "The 2016 Latour is a blend of 92.9% Cabernet Sauvignon and 7.1% Merlot. Deep garnet-purple in color, it is a little shut down on the nose to start, needing a lot of swirling to unlock notes of fallen leaves, iron ore, rose bud tea, and cinnamon stick, eventually revealing a classic core of plum preserves, black currant jelly, star anise, and blood orange. The full-bodied palate is jam-packed with rich, seductive black fruit layers with an absolute myriad of baking spice, floral, and mineral nuances, framed by satiny smooth tannins and a lively backbone, finishing with epic length and depth. A legend in the making." - The Wine Palate

The heart of the Enclos is the only terroir that, every year, can produce the depth, elegance and concentration that we expect of the Grand Vin. It is here that the Cabernet Sauvignon (accounting for more than 90% of the blend) can achieve optimal expression in terms of colour, richness and freshness. These wines need time - often a decade- before they begin to be ready for drinking.

The 2016 vintage for Pauillac was brilliant.
Like much of Bordeaux, the growing season got off to an exceptionally damp start, with a warm but muggy winter that swiftly transformed into a wet, humid spring. The sheer amount of rainfall that fe...
