Expert tasting note: (2006 vintage) "Deep, dark, ruby-red color is virtually opaque. The dark-fruit aromas are rich, concentrated & slightly curranty. The fruit is more distinct on the palate where rich, ripe blackcurrants & black-cherries combine. There is plentiful cedary oak, balanced acidity & balanced alcohol. The fruit concentration prevents grainey tannis from standing out as harsh. The finish is of quite good length. This is a good wine, bit is a little more ripe & soft than is classic for this estate." - 11/10 DCAMW

The vineyard is located in the heart of the terroir of St Julien. On one of the most beautiful hilltops of Garonne gravel, facing the Gironde, the clay-gravelly subsoil makes it possible to perfectly regulate the vagaries of the weather throughout the year. Plowing is traditional, without weeding or herbicide. The vines are mainly planted with Cabernet Sauvignon (74%), Merlot (23%) and Cabernet Franc (3%).

The harvest is entirely done by hand. After destemming, the berries are meticulously sorted, crushed and placed in thermo-regulated wooden vats, according to their plots. The alcoholic fermentation lasts from 7 to 10 days and the extraction is always respectful of the juice by adjusting the number of pumping overs according to the cuvées and the vintages. The maceration is about 3 weeks then the flow in barrels is done batch by batch.

- Ageing
-
The wine is aged between 16 and 18 months in French oak barrels, 60% of which are new wood, in a cellar maintained at 15°.
- Producer Tasting Notes
-
The impression of severity given by this vintage is in fact only the consequence of its youth, the constituent elements not being completely melted for the moment. But the silhouette that emerges shows a rich complexity, with its aromas of stone, cherry, highlighted by barely present touches of wood. On the palate, density and depth represent the major features of a whole ending on solid tannins with a liquorice character.
