Producer Notes: The Grand Vin is the product of exceptional terroirs from the former Léoville estate. These terroirs are located mainly in the Clos Léoville Las Cases, which you pass as you leave Saint- Julien village for Pauillac. They extend over nearly 60ha producing Cabernet Sauvignons and Cabernet Francs with a complex, polished expression and characteristics which are totally unique to the Grand Vin of Léoville du Marquis de Las Cases and have been widely recognized for years.

The final maturity levels were very good, particularly for the phenological potential in the Cabernet Francs.

Chocolate mint, flowers, currants, cedar and lead guypencil on the nose bring you to a hmouth full of chewy Cabernet, dusty tannins and a finish with tart cherries and bitter cocoa in the endnote. Decanted 60 minutes before serving. Drink from 2023-2040.

Tiefdunkles Rubingranat, opaker Kern, violette Reflexe. In der Nase etwas verhalten, reife Zwetschgen, Kräuter, dunkle Mineralik. Kraftvoll, schwarze Beeren, rassige Säurestruktur, noch sehr jugendlich, fast ungestüm, präsente Tannine, würziger Nachhall, noch etwas unbalanciert. Hier ist die Prognose noch sehr schwierig, obwohl bereits dreimal auch in gefülltem Zustand probiert.

A very, very good wine with creamy oak across ripe summer pudding and poached purple berries; superb balance and drive. The tannins are assertive but never threaten. Sweet ripe fruit is served up with bright, vibrant and ripe style; raspberry, mulberry and red plum flavors, great sustain, long and impressive. -NS

Deep, dark, purple/black, nearly opaque. The nose is rich & deep with meaty warmth. The palate is initially dominated by dense oak tannins with soft acidity.
