BOURGOGNE: The winter was mild with very little frost which benefited the vines through to March, where we even saw some of the plants starting to show their first tips. April was surprisingly warm and we saw the vines develop very quickly which astonished many Burgundy winegrowers. At the end of April, we were already more than two weeks ahead compared to 2006. Vine development continued at a rapid rate until flowering, and this accelerated process surprised most growers who did not have time to implement the necessary “therapy” : some vines had started to suffer. The beginning of the flowering took place towards the end of May but at the same time there was a spell of very fresh weather which resulted in many variations of flowering across different vineyards. One has to go back to 1994 to notice such early development:10 days ahead 2003 ! July was not very warm and rather humid but the vegetation was still ahead of schedule.

Vintage quality: Good
Current condition: Ready to drink
For Burgundy, the 2007 vintage had some highlights.
The growing season got off to a fine start with a spectacularly warm April, but then conditions abruptly changed. Cool, damp weather set in for the duration of the summer and the endless dank days allowed both mildew an...
