The Martini Sonoma County Cab is a mix of Dry Creek Valley (Frei Ranch) and Alexander Valley (Barrelli Creek). It is mostly cabernet sauvignon with petite sirah, petit verdot, and merlot, that together boost the dark fruit component of this bright, textural, medium-rich, easy-drinking, savoury red. It’s all aged in French and American for about 16 months. Ready to drink but with enough grippy tannins to take on a rare grilled steak. Solid value. (Anthony Gismondi).

Newly released, this iteration of Monte Rosso Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon is wildly spice focused at present, with bright clove and cinnamon over typically ripe fruit that showcases the site’s black and red fruit mix. Plush and delicious, it’s a full pleasure cruise already, but could still benefit from up to ten years of cellaring. (Rich Cook)

Martini’s Monte Rosso Vineyard is situated high in the Mayacamas mountains on the Sonoma side of the line that divides Sonoma County from Napa County. It is one of the most coveted pieces of real estate in wine country and has for decades produced some of the finest, most complex cabernet sauvignon in the region. The 2014 shows exceptional balance despite an alcohol level of 15.5 percent. This heady wine shows layers of ripe black fruits along with supple, beautifully integrated tannins. Historically the Monte Rosso cabs have aged well, but this vintage has “drink me now” written all over it. Try it with a thick, juicy grilled ribeye steak. (Robert Whitley)

Herbal and juicy, this is a straightforward, larger-production wine with a grip of tannins supporting waves of coconut and red and black berry. It's well priced for the quality and is a good choice for everyday enjoyment.

A dark, smoky wine generous in both tannins and ripe, concentrated fruit. Small percentages of Petite Sirah and Merlot were blended in, the Petite Sirah perhaps for color and structure; the Merlot to soften things down a touch.

90% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Petit Sirah produce a medium bodied, fresh, spicy, cherry oriented, soft textured wine that will be best tasted on the young side. 88 Points

Martini’s Cabernets are consistently well made and well priced, and this one didn’t disappoint. It has aromas of plums and black fruit, accented with cigar-box spice and a slight herbal note. The wine is medium-bodied, with lush black fruit flavors and a hint of milk chocolate. (Michael Apstein)

Louis M. Martini is best known for its iconic Monte Rosso Vineyard Cabernet, but the wines a bit lower in the food chain bear the same mark of excellence as the vaunted Monte Rosso. This vintage of Martini’s Sonoma County Cabernet delivers fresh red and dark berry aromas with firm tannins and excellent depth and weight on the palate. It’s a steal at the price. (Robert Whitley)

Peppery, cassis, floral, black berry, rooty, chocolate, black olive, spicy, resin aromas with a meaty note. Fresh, juicy, smooth palate with very light tannins and a hint of sweetness.
